OBJECTIVE
The objective of this Scholarship Fund is to partner with civic-minded,
financially needy, mission-focused individuals and help enable their
educational, professional, or vocational visions at their choices of
schools, apprenticeships, internships, colleges or universities towards
the successful occupational growth of these individuals in the Brea
community.
The current version of the application for
scholarship funds will be available on the website of the Kiwanis Club of
Brea (Club) and by written request to the Club. Applications submitted by
residents or students in Brea will be accepted for review and
consideration. Applications may be submitted throughout the year, however,
the formal decision process will occur at the date determined each year by
the Club Board so as to be completed by August 15 of each
calendar year.
PROCESS
Applications must be mailed to the Kiwanis Club of Brea Scholarship
Fund, P.O. Box 1372, Brea, California, 92822. The deadline for
receipt of scholarship applications is June 15. No late applications
will be accepted. The Club will select finalists, and each finalist will
be contacted to schedule an interview with the selection committee.
Scholarship recipients will be selected by August 15, and the Club will
notify all recipients of their award status via mail by August 30.
DISBURSEMENTS
Scholarship awards will be mailed to
recipients at the address listed on their applications. It is
anticipated that all scholarship awards will be disbursed in September.
ELIGIBILITY
All applicants must reside in the City
of Brea or be attending a school in the Brea-Olinda Unified School
District at the time the application is submitted. Finalists who
are selected must bring supporting documentation and proof of the
following to the selection committee interview:
Residence in the City of Brea or enrollment in the
Brea-Olinda Unified School District at the time of
application.
Social security number or United States passport
(verification only).
Proof of acceptance or enrollment at an accredited trade or
vocational school, college or university or proof that the applicant
is a senior in high school and will graduate from high school before
the date when finalists are notified (July 15).
Official school transcripts.
Names of clubs, organizations and groups involved
with during high school or are currently.
Awards, recognitions and achievements earned
during high school or thereafter.
Service in the military; awards received while in
the military; discharge from military (DD 214 will be sufficient)
Your annual income, father’s, mother’s,
and/or spouse’s annual income if applicable
No finalist will be considered for a scholarship award
unless the applicable documentation and proof is provided to the
selection committee at the time of the interview. It is advised
that finalists bring only copies of these documents because the
documentation and proof will be kept by the selection committee and will
not be returned to the finalists.
